Meet Wambula - our Chief Operations Officer
Little did Wambula know, when he was a young boy in elementary school in northern Malawi, that one day he would become the Chief Operations Officer for Good Soil Academy and that his third grade teacher would become its principal. And to be fair, Bertha, our GSA principal, did not know that one day in the distant future she’d be working with Wambula. Being new to Malawi, Bertha needed someone who spoke Chichewa to serve as her interpreter, and for that school year, young Wambula was inseparable from Bertha, accompanying her and assisting her with the language.
Fast forward some thirty years, and Wambula and Bertha are now working together again. That’s just one illustration of our amazing God who multi-tasks in remarkable ways to weave people into our lives. You should have seen the look on their faces when they realized that Good Soil Academy was not the first place they had met!
Wambula is a young man who has been gifted with a lot of talents and responsibilities. This time Wambula is “interpreting” all things operational for Good Soil, overseeing security, food service, grounds, facilities, farming, and many other functions that come with operating a school committed to excellence. He has been the project manager for the construction of the infrastructure on campus, the Dream Center (academic building) and the Girls’ Hostel (dormitory). He is one of a handful of John Maxwell certified leaders in Malawi. He is a gifted preacher and teacher, loves working in the youth ministry and is an elder in his church. He is a loving husband to Priscilla and their two young daughters. He is passionate about leadership, and he teaches both entrepreneurship and leadership at Good Soil Academy. He loves reading and sharing principles of godly living. His “hobby” consists of watching streamed messages by pastors from all over the world.
Wambula’s life and passions align well with the vision, mission and values of Good Soil Academy. He is integral to our mission of transforming girls into Christian entrepreneurs and leaders. He seeks to live out a life that honors God, practices generosity, adds value to others and always does the right thing.
And here are some fun trivia facts about Wambula. He has ten siblings. He is from the Tonga tribe and loves to dress well, often wearing suits or sportcoats.
As we continue to grow, Wambula will have even more on his plate. These expanding responsibilities will require even more planning, coaching, and leadership from Wambula. Please pray that God strengthens him further for these challenges.
