Meet some of our GSA Team Members

As another trip draws to a close, I’m reflecting on the amazing team that God has assembled at Good Soil Academy. I often write about Bertha, our Principal, and Wambula, our Director of Operations, but I’d love to introduce you to some of our other GSA team members. All of them love God, and they are going to become a powerful team of frontline leaders and co-builders of Good Soil Academy.

Justinah:
Justinah graduated from African Bible College. She serves as our Administrative Assistant and staffs the front office. She’s the cheery face and voice that greets our guests, parents and vendors. She often posts our school activities on social media and assists with marketing the school.

Andrew:
Andrew serves as our English teacher and as the Head of our Humanities Department. Andrew is passionate about strengthening students’ English language skills. He has worked with a group of nine students who required one-to-one support and their mastery of the language is growing. Andrew has written a series of handbooks to assist students in taking their national exams.

Patricia:
Patricia is the school nurse and dorm mother for 66 girls. She lives with the girls in the dormitory and attends to their health needs as well as helps them through challenges such as homesickness, anxiety or fear. Patricia loves to sing praise songs, and she can often be found singing with our students. She has a degree in psychiatric nursing.

Veronica:
Veronica is our new computer science and physics teacher. She memorized the Mission, Vision and Values of GSA on the first day at GSA and recited them flawlessly. She will be an inspiration to our students; particularly those who fear physics.

Ruth:
Ruth teaches biology and agriculture. She is “outstanding in her field” whether it be a field of corn or cassava and can often be seen there, teaching our girls the fundamentals of agriculture.

Ambukeghe:
AK, as we all call him, teaches math and chemistry. He is great at engaging our students. As AK puts it, “My job is as a teacher, and my calling is as a teacher.” He is overjoyed as we were able to provide him with three sets of molecular modeling kits which will be very useful in introducing the students to elements and chemical compounds.

Grace:
Grace is a gifted teacher who teaches geography and pursues excellence with a passion. Her desire is to one day be an administrator of a school with GSA’s vision, mission and values.

Bakhita:
Bakhita teaches Bible knowledge and Chichewa, the language of the Chewa tribe. She finds great joy in the growth and success of her students.

James:
James teaches the humanities. He is a thoughtful man who loves coaching our students in Soccer. Recently he took our students to their first away soccer game, and while they lost handily, he can’t wait to schedule their next match. Through James, our students are gaining a sense of group identity and school spirit.

Wambula:
Wambula teaches our Young Biblical Entrepreneurs curriculum as well as leadership courses. He is a powerful communicator, and the students love learning the tools necessary for their future success as business women and leaders.

For three days during school break, our GSA team participated in a workshop facilitated and presented by Steve Chartier, our Co-Founder. It was such a privilege to get to know each of these young, dedicated and talented teachers. They are growing with every term and are becoming a closely knit team united in their role as frontline leaders who are well aligned around the Vision, Mission and Values of GSA. Over time, it is our hope that they will become powerful co-builders of Good Soil Academy. What is perhaps most exciting is that each of these teachers are women and men of faith. They love our students, and they take the time necessary to see that our students grow both spiritually and academically. I’m humbled and privileged to know and serve this team.
