The Chicken or the Egg?

All of us have heard the proverbial question, “which came first, the chicken or the egg?”

At Good Soil Academy, we’ve cracked the answer to the question.  It’s the egg.  Since our launch on September 21, 2025 we’ve been going through eggs - a lot of eggs!  In Malawi, and in most agrarian cultures, eggs are a staple source of protein and that’s no exception at GSA.

Part of our sustainability efforts include changing our answer to the “chicken or egg” question.  Wambula Saka, our Director of Operations has been leading our sustainability venture in Malawi and he’s been learning a lot about poultry farming as he talks with some of the leading Malawian experts in the field. 

Our goal at GSA is to move from being an egg consumer to an egg producer.  The benefits will be two fold: we’ll become our own supplier of eggs; and we’ll give our students a close-up and personal view of entrepreneurship and business in a real-world laboratory!

Farming of any kind comes with risk, and all forms of farming teach us to be more dependent on our Maker.  Please pray with us as we move forward with this significant venture.
